As of June 2026 the CALMAC ferry terminal at Port Ellen is closed for redevelopment/expansion and will remain so until late 2029.
Port Ellen Marina however continues to operate as normal to welcome yachts/pleasure boats etc.
There will be dredging and back filling in the mouth of the Harbour. There is still safe passage but any queries then the barge master can be raised in Chanel 6
